"The best-laid schemes o' mice an' men..."

{Robert Burns---1759-1796}

The latest

As I recently informed a ShoeString contributor, I was planning to expand
ShoeString Poetry beginning with issue six, but as Mr. Burns so aptly pointed
out, plans are merely figments of the imagination.

The unexpected is bringing change to my life which will find much of my time
being spent as caregiver. This means I will no longer have the needed time to
edit an electronic poetry journal, at least not for some time.

The issue had been settled in our favor. The skeptics who were the inspiration for
ShoeString's coming to be had recanted, saying, "Okay, some writers would continue
writing even if there was nothing to be gained by it."

I consider this as much a victory as one could ever hope for.
And it was OUR victory. YOU, the ShoeString contributor, made it possible.

I plan this to be a hiatus, not a swan song. But then we talked about plans earlier,
so who knows. I'm sure it will be at least 6 months, possibly much longer before
ShoeString will again be open for submissions.

I would like to thank everyone who sent in poetry. I would like to thank everyone
who lent a supportive word for what I was doing here. I would like to thank all
those who offered money for the furtherance of ShoeString Poetry. The response
was incredible, and that is the very reason I wish to continue publishing ShoeString
Poetry MagEzine sometime in the not too distant future.

In an attempt to publish as many authors as possible before this hiatus begins, I will
make issue 4 a combined issue of all the poets selected for issues 4 & 5. Check the
"Catalog Page" for this double issue of ShoeString Poetry.

Until next time, may your life be richly blessed.

Sincerely,

Phoebe Sayornis
